A first-half hat-trick from Dean Griffiths took Yate safely through to the next round of the FA Trophy.

They now meet Southern League Premier Division rivals Bashley at Lodge Road on November 1.

Yate had to make a change when Marcus Mapstone picked up an injury in the pre-match warm-up.

Lee Jefferies took his place in the centre of the defence and went on to be instrumental in Yate's first goal. His header from an Alex Stanley corner hit a post and Griffiths reacted quickly to tap in the rebound.

Griffiths again added the finishing touch for the second goal after Stourport goalkeeper Paul Evans had palmed out a shot from Paul Metheringham.

The striker completed his treble in the 35th minute, when the hosts failed to clear a corner and he finished well from 25 yards.

Yate's Jake Reid and Stourport's Adam Robinson were sent off before the home side scored a late consolation.

Bath City won 3-2 at Street last night in the Somerset Premier Cup.

They went ahead with an own goal before Darren Edwards doubled the lead.

Street pulled a goal back but Chris Holland restored the two-goal advantage before Street added a second.
