Green's woe as Bristol Academy suffer a Cup shocker
Coach Gary Green described Bristol Academy's shock exit from the FA Women's Cup as "one of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced".
Sunderland were trailing 2-0 in the first half but hit back to claim a 4-2 win in extra-time.
What makes defeat all the more bitter for Bristol is the fact they would have landed a home semi-final against Chelsea.
"We've always drawn the favourites in the last four – this time Arsenal and Everton were drawn against each other," said Green.
Gwen Harries scored both goals for the visitors, the first direct from a corner and the second a 35-yard free-kick.
But Demi Stokes and Sophie Williams put the Wearsiders back on level terms after Kelly McDougall had earlier missed a penalty.
Williams then put Sunderland ahead in extra-time with a long-range effort and Lucy Bronze nodded home in the final seconds.
"We were woeful and we just have to put it down as a bad day at the office," said Green.
"We had about eight players who didn't really turn up on the day and we are better than that.
"I've had sleepless nights about it since.
The best player on the pitch by a mile was our central defender Grace McCatty. She put her body on the line, but we didn't have enough like her."
The Academy now travel to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with Green admitting: "They are restructuring the league next season and I want a top-eight finish so there is no chance of us being excluded."
Bristol could hand a debut to new signing Jemma Rose, from Plymouth Argyle. The defender has skippered the England Under-19s side.
In the Southern Division, second-placed Keynsham Town travel to third-placed Barnet.
Second-placed Yeovil Town lost ground on SW Combination leaders QPR when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Oxford City. Sara Roxburgh scored the visitors' goal. Rangers stretched their advantage at the top with a 2-0 win at Forest Green.
Team Bath romped to a 5-0 win at Reading Royals, but Laura Bray's penalty could not save Weston St Johns from a 6-1 mauling by Plymouth Argyle.
Stoke Lane Athletic won 3-0 at Taunton Town in the Premier Division of the SW Women's League, but Bristol Ladies' Union slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Cheltenham Town.
In Division One (North), Oldland Abbotonians kept their promotion push on course with an 8-2 victory over Weston St Johns Reserves.
Debbie Stacey scored the only goal as Downend Flyers saw off Keynsham Town Development.
Bristol & West, Yate Town and Bitton all tumbled out of the Gloucestershire County Women's League Cup, losing to Swindon Supermarine, Forest of Dean and Cleeve West Town respectively.
