Green efforts are Gold standard
THE charity which runs the Southville Centre in Bristol has received a Gold grade from the Green Business Tourism Scheme for its eco-friendly conference facilities.
The community centre in Beauley Road has been ranked with some of the country's best-known venues such as the National Wildlife Centre and Balmoral Castle.
The centre was assessed in more than 120 ways, such as recycling procedures, local and organic food and drink supplies, provision of natural spaces and energy efficiency measures.
Dawn De Montfort, who is the manager of the centre, said they were proud of winning the Gold award for the second time in a row.

Paul Jeffries, a member of the Green Tourism board, said the centre was an obvious hub of the local community and the award was richly deserved."
The Southville Centre is currently seeking funding to further improve the energy efficiency of the Grade II listed Victorian building.
An eco-celebration is planned for next June when local residents will be invited to join in with some environmentally friendly activities.
The Southville Centre is a community venue which houses a nursery, preschool, out-of-school provision, an older people's club, and other facilities.
