LOCAL band The Giants will perform at a fundraising concert in Thornbury in support of the town's Falcons youth football club.

Some of the band members used to play for the Falcons when they were younger.

Now they have just recorded their debut EP, Easy Living – Temporarily Unavailable, and are doing the fundraiser as a warm-up for a tour which starts at the Louisiana in Bristol on Friday, May 8 .

The Thornbury concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday (May 2) in the Turnberries community complex in Rock Street, and will also feature bands from the town's Castle School, as well as Marlwood School in Alveston.

Dave Hasell, bass player for The Giants, said: "The Falcons do a great job introducing youngsters to football and I loved my time playing for them."

Mike Pengelly, manager of the Falcons' under-16 team, said: "The Falcons are all about giving youngsters opportunities so I'm really pleased that The Giants will be supported by some of the best young bands from the Castle and Marlwood schools.

"I'm used to seeing some of them on a football pitch so watching them on stage will be a new experience."

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought by calling 01454 885698.
