Government brings Cabinet meeting to Bristol's John Cabot Academy

“Classic! The government shows its commitment to the City and County of Bristol by holding a meeting in neighbouring South Gloucestershire!

It was nice to see, however, that children from some Bristol schools (i.e. Bristol Metropolitian Academy, Bristol Brunel Academy, Summerhill Academy, Frome Vale Academy etc) taking part. None of the schools with pupils present, however, are managed by Bristol City Council as they've all opted out of Council control.”

“@Bris28. Kingswood is in Bristol, it's all Bristol but run by different councils. Politically half of Kingswood isn't in Bristol but outside of Politics it's all in Bristol.
For your information when Avon when broken up South Glos took the Kingswood name with them but this still left half of Kingswood in Bristol but Bristol Council didn't put signs up to say Kingswood Bristol.
You can see Kingswood in the name of lots of official Bristol Council run addresses including Cossham Hospital, Bristol Brunel Academy and Two Mile Hill school which is right next to John Cabot Academy. Just look at how many bins outside of people's homes in what you think is Kingswood which say Bristol City Council.
Kingswood in South Glos is actually a very small area but Kingswood as an area is quite big. Kingswood Leisure Centre isn't even in Kingswood, it's in Staple Hill.”

More importantly locally the Merchant Venturers, (one of their members is standing as Mayoral candidate) had their annual service at The Cathedral followed by a grand lunch at Merchants' Hall. A top hat and tails affair this. Then at Kingswood, which is not in Bristol, 23 men and women, good and true, come to town, otherwise known as Dave and the Whitehall Farce.”
