But the statue was voluntarily returned one week later on Monday, February 25 by a woman who did not give her name.

She said she had found the statue in her brother’s garden while house sitting.

Nursery Manager Jo Newman said: “Everyone is ecstatic that Gary has been returned to us, especially the children who kept asking where he was.

“We would like to say a big thank you to the parents and everyone who helped publicise our campaign to get Gary back.”
