Frome Town 2 North Leigh 1

Frome Town gave new manager Darren Perrin a winning start with a 2-1 victory over a useful North Leigh side.

North Leigh took the lead against the run of play after 28 minutes, when Andy Helby rose at the near post to flick on a corner and Stuart Hole headed the ball into the net.

Frome hit back in the 38th minute as Ricky Hulbert guided a header into the far corner of the net. The home side took the lead in the 49th minute with a goal that will be remembered for a long time to come.

A right-wing cross was headed clear, only for Joe Gomes to hit a stunning right-foot volley that screamed into the net from 35 yards – a goal that would have graced any match at any level.
