Gloucestershire skipper chosen to lead MCC
Gloucestershire captain Alex Gidman has been chosen to skipper the MCC for the traditional curtain-raiser to the county season.
Gidman will lead the side for a historic game against reigning county champions Durham in Abu Dhabi at the end of March.

He said: "I was delighted to be invited to play in this match, and to be asked to captain is a huge privilege."
Gidman will be joined in the team by Gloucestershire team-mate and England Lions regular Steve Kirby.

“At least out there, there is a chance of a full game. Usually the 'opener' is badly affected by temperamental English weather, and doesn't do itself justice as a contest. The gate is probably going to be bigger there too, and who knows, it might attract some additional sponsorship for the county system.”
