Gloucestershire's batsmen set about building a winning platform on the second day of the LV County Championship match against Surrey at Bristol.

Having shot the Londoners out for a paltry 183 in their first innings, the hosts put themselves in a position of strength when Kadeer Ali and Rob Woodman staged a partnership of 77 for the first wicket.

But former England fast bowler Alex Tudor redressed the balance, removing both in the space of two overs as Gloucestershire reached the tea interval on 88-2.

Gloucestershire's seamers had earlier demolished Surrey, who resumed on 96-1 but then lost eight wickets for the addition of just 73 runs in the morning session.

Steve Kirby removed last man Jade Dernbach shortly after lunch to finish with 3-32 from 17 overs.
