Steve Kirby and Jon Lewis are teaming up to provide coaching courses for youngsters aged 6-11 that could act as the first rung on a ladder leading to the professional game.

Half-term courses are being staged next week at four different venues, based on Gloucestershire's new districts, with the 12-hour programme costing £60 thanks to the involvement of National Friendly.

Boys and girls can earn bronze, silver or gold skill awards with the emphasis on a fun, learning environment with youngsters being pointed towards hard ball games at club, district and county level.

The courses take place at UWE's Frenchay Campus (Bristol), Marling School (Stroud and South Glos), Bishops College (Forest of Dean and Gloucester), plus Pates Grammar School (Cheltenham and Cotswolds). Places are still available, call Steve Silk on 07554 452228.
