Bath City Manager Adie Britton spoke after Saturdays' defeat at St Albans about Dave Gilroy's slight loss of confidence since coming back from injury.

Following last nights' victory over local rivals Newport County in the Setanta Shield he should now be walking on air as the forward scored four times.

Early on it had begun to look as if City might struggle and things then went from bad to worse for when Martin Slocombe let Kris Leak slip past him down the City left and a good cross landed right into the stride of Craig Read to give the visitors a goal advantage.

But then the Gilroy show took over. He struck twice just before the interval. The first came from a fine pass by Edwards and the second from a cross by former Newport winger Richard Evans, making his debut for Bath. Gilroy confidently spun on his heel and fired low beyond the diving Thompson in the County goal.

Goals three and four came in the second half. The first an outrageous conversion of a Daren Edwards pass when the pair looked yards off side. Finally, Gilroy capped his evening with just under an hour to go when a cross from Gethin Jones found him on the edge of the eighteen yard box to again fire beyond the div ing and despairing Thompson.

The only blow for City on an otherwise perfect evening, Scot Rogers limping off on his return from injury with a badly damaged ankle.
