Alex Gidman reached his first century since July 2007 as Gloucestershire extended their first innings lead over Leicestershire to 133 by tea.

The Gloucestershire CCC captain was 146 not out at the break while wicketkeeper Steve Snell was on 26 with the total standing at 266-6.

The one wicket to fall in the afternoon session saw Rob Woodman miss a sweep at Carl Crowe to be lbw for six.

Gidman reached his century from his 174th delivery with a push through the off side off Crowe. He also hit 11 fours and a six in his 100 and then survived dropped catches at the wicket and in the gully on 110 and 132 respectively.

He passed his career best - previously 142 against Surrey at Bristol in 2005 - with a pull over mid wicket also off Crowe.
