George should stick with them
TUESDAY'S Post contained an article about a letter from Massive Attack musician Robert Del Naja. He was trying to put pressure on Mr Ferguson, because he was a member of Bristol Merchant Venturers. Can I say that for someone who doesn't live in Bristol. He has a cheek.
To try and influence George Ferguson to resign from this club as he calls it because of things that happened more than a hundred years ago is rubbish.
Is he aware we have had two world wars, gas attacks, concentration camps, mass rapes etc, you name it and it happened. The slave trade was something that happened and is over.
The Merchant Venturers Society is one of the few things in Bristol we can be proud of. The standards they set for anything they do voluntarily is wonderful. Mr Ferguson please withdraw your resignation from the Merchant Venturers Society. You are needed by them.
