Gang 'tortured drug grower for £10,000 cash'

A MAN who grew cannabis was subjected to hours of torture by a gang demanding he hand over £10,000.

Jubed Khan was attacked by the gang, who stripped him naked, held a knife to his throat, twisted his nipples with pliers and threatened to cut his testicles off.

Bristol Crown Court heard Mr Khan was forced to hand over his bank cards, PIN numbers and keys by the gang, who also scalded his foot with boiling water and tried to strangle him before taking £200 from his bank account.

Three men and a youth deny false imprisonment and robbery in September last year.

They are: Mazin Mohammed, 19, of Claverham House, Bristol; Detrol Riley, 19, of Gloucester; Ahmed Said, 26, of Cottrell Road, Eastville, and a 17-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Giving evidence from behind a screen yesterday, Mr Khan said he was beaten and tortured as the gang demanded he transfer £10,000, which he did not have, from his account.

He said: "They stripped me down, naked. They were saying they would do me over, kill me, come after my family, all threats.

"They were going to kill me or keep me hostage until I gave them my money. They said they would keep me for a month and leave me dead in the house. I was naked. I felt a bit scared, I was scared of getting raped. They put a knife next to my genitals."

Don Tait, prosecuting, told the jury Mr Khan was a "small-time" cannabis grower who had plants at his flat. On the day he was attacked he went to a flat in Whitehall Road to meet a man called Peaches, whom the Crown say was Ahmed Said.

Mr Tait said the 17-year-old youth was also there, as well as Riley, Mohammed and unidentified men using the names John Wayne and Bigs.

The jury heard the youth punched Mr Khan in the stomach while others punched him in the face.

Mr Tait said: "A hot iron was put close to his arm and they were demanding money. A knife was put to his throat."

Mr Khan had his bank cards taken and wrote down his PIN numbers before the gang twisted his nipples with pliers and threatened to cut his testicles off.

Mr Tait said Mr Khan also offered the gang the cannabis growing at his flat and they said they would take his car to get the plants.

He added: "Threats were made to cut his fingers off and his foot was scalded with boiling water. An unidentified man tried to strangle him with a martial arts weapon."

The jury heard Mr Khan was held captive for several hours and on his release found that £200 had been withdrawn from his bank account, by someone using the Lloyds bank ATM on nearby Church Road.
