Fry Club proved too strong for opponents Shepton Mallet in the first round of the Somerset Senior Cup.

The Keynsham side went on a goalscoring spree in winning 12-1.

Kevin Roper netted four, while Dan Davis, Ryan Milton and Tom Purnell all scored twice and Brandon Barnes and Ben Finch completed the tally.

Stockwood Green went through to the second round with a 2-0 victory at Bishop Sutton Reserves, where Jason Smith and Jake James were on target.

Stockwood goalkeeper Ricky Leibiedz saved a late Sutton penalty.

Weakened Backwell United, of the Premier Division, went out after a 5-3 defeat against Division One strugglers Burnham United.

Premier Division Cutters Friday dominated their tie against Division Two Congresbury, but did not clinch victory until late on.

Scott Saunders gave Cutters the lead in the first half, and they should have been further ahead before the interval.

However, it was not until the closing minutes that a long clearance from goalkeeper Nick Porter found Ryan Bending and he lobbed in the second goal.

Hengrove Athletic went through to the next round with a 3-2 home victory over Winscombe, but Nailsea United's game at Churchill was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
