Vauxhall Motors 0 Gloucester City 0

A frustrated Dave Mehew admitted his players were not good enough as Gloucester City picked up a point away at Vauxhall Motors.

A clear shout for handball in the dying moments could have changed the Tigers' fortunes, but it came after they missed numerous chances to score.

Mike Symons rocketed a shot over the bar two minutes in, but it needed smart, calm defending by Marc Richards and his Hartpury team-mate James Baldwin to keep Gloucester together at the back as Robbie Booth shone for Vauxhall.

Tempers flared early in the second half when Booth, already on a yellow card for a foul in the first half, reacted badly to a refereeing decision and was sent off for foul and abusive language.

Jack Pitcher, on for Will Morford, showed energy but fell just short on 73 minutes when Marshall played him a swooping cross.

Pitcher had more chances in the last ten minutes, firing the ball wide on one occasion and into the goalkeeper's chest on another.

But it was on 87 minutes when Tom Webb's run upfield saw his shot deflected that the Tiger's had their clearest chance. Pitcher ran to meet the deflection only to see it blocked by the hand of the advancing Lee Dames inside the box.

Mehew said: "The lads were not on form today. We all have off days and you can afford it when it is just one player, but it was three of the attacking players. A point is fine, but it wasn't until 87 minutes that we really tested their keeper."
