The Frome club have had to call off their Bradley and Selwood Cup events at Leighton, mid-Somerset, scheduled for Sunday.

They may also have to call off the Ted Cox Memorial event on New Year's Day, having lost their trials playground in Asham Woods.

Illegal use by solo and quad riders and 4x4 vehicle drivers has damaged the woodland area, which is a Site of Specific Scientific Interest.

The area has been fenced off by the authorities, meaning it cannot be used.

The club's nearby motocross circuit is thought to be unaffected.

Midsomer Norton veteran Mike Fear clashes with Salisbury BSA rider George Greenland and the Dorset duo of Roger and Steven Hand in the Bath Classic club's trial at Beaconsfield Farm, West Harptree on Sunday.

The four-lap, 10-section event is expected to attract more than 70 riders, including Nigel Tompkins, Tim Wheeler, Ian Peberdy and Ross Thurlow in the twin shock class.

Other regular award winners expected to be in action in the Mendip Hill event include Martin Bracey, Mike Aven, Tim Fellender, Tim James and Alan Hicks.

There are alternative events at Portland in Dorset, and at Cossicks Cross between Exeter and Moretonhampstead.

The Midwest Racing Club are staging a further round of their Hewitt Enduro Championship at Ditteridge, near Box, on Sunday and the Exmoor club have a similar event on the outskirts of Barnstaple in North Devon.
