Free the streets of pedestrians
NOW that our city has become the centre of British cycling or something, would it be possible for our new mayor to add to his brilliant plans the closure of some of Bristol's streets to the general public? Brislington Hill, Union Street and Old Market come to mind. Thus freeing the pavements of pedestrians and allowing said cyclists to practise their skills.
For the more advanced types the sprint course between St Stephen's Street, Eagle House and The White Lion would be ideal. This could lead to greater things Mr Mayor. The Greater Bristol Tour de Pavement Race sponsored by the Avon and Somerset Strolling Players without whose support many of these cyclists would be in court.
Perhaps a walk around our city pavements by our mayor and police commissioner might give them pause for thought concerning cyclists.
After all, we are still all in it together are we not?

“Presumably the cowardly and despicable individuals who are making down the previous very reasonable comments are fully-paid-up members of the Pavement Drivers Association, whose motto is:
'Keep Death Off the Roads, Drive on the pavement!'”

“@ ScaredAmoeba
Thanks for posting that (saved me having to do it). I bet Josep Knapp thinks he is so witty. I'd love to be trapped in a pub with him. Not.”

“I would say this post is in extremely bad taste considering this: http://tinyurl.com/anhdeyt
The principal danger by far to pedestrians and cyclists alike derives from motor-vehicles.
Motorists kill around 150 times as many pedestrians on the footway or pavement as are killed by cyclists.”
