Free school bid close to success
BRISTOL Cathedral Choir School's bid to open a free school for children of primary age has taken a major step towards getting the go-ahead.
The Department for Education has invited principal Neil Blundell and his team to an interview next week, as part of the final phase of the application process. A decision from the Government is expected in July.
More than 300 parents, representing almost 400 children of primary school age or younger, have told BCCS they would make the Cathedral Primary School the first choice for their child.
Mr Blundell said: "We are delighted that we have progressed to the next stage of the process and very encouraged by the huge tide of support for a Cathedral Primary School from Bristol's parents."
