Gloucestershire have named a 12-man squad for the season-opening County Championship Division Two game with Surrey, starting at The Oval tomorrow.

It includes New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin, who arrived in England on Saturday.

Fellow Kiwi Craig Spearman is set to open the batting after missing most of the second part of last season with a serious facial injury, which he sustained after being felled by a bouncer in a Twenty20 Cup game with Northamptonshire.

As well as left-arm swing bowler Franklin, Gloucestershire's squad includes three other frontline seamers in Jon Lewis, Steve Kirby and new recruit Ian Saxelby, as well as a spin option in Vikram Banerjee.

Gloucestershire CCC (from): C Spearman, K Ali, H Marshall, C Taylor, A Gidman, J Franklin, D Brown, S Snell, J Lewis, S Kirby, I Saxelby, V Banerjee.
