SATURDAY'S District League programme was badly hit by the heavy overnight frost and only four games were played in the seven divisions, including the Evening Post Star Match between Broadlands and Greyfriars Athletic A.

Frampton Athletic Reserves closed the gap on Division IV pacesetters Real Thornbury and Patchway North End , whose clash was called off because of a frozen pitch, thanks to a 2-0 home win against Talbot Knowle United Reserves.

The present of an own goal from a visiting defender put Frampton one up at the break and striker Dan Cook added the second, netting from close range in the 80th minute.

Shirehampton A moved clear of the relegation zone after hitting Brislington Cricketers Reserves for six without reply on the artificial pitch at St Bedes.

On target for Shire were Beau Griffiths (2), Sam Domone (2), his brother Craig and Martin England, after the Cricketers agreed to switch to the unfamiliar all-weather surface.

Oldland Abbotonians Reserves took a step nearer safety in Division V with a 5-1 home victory against Bendix Reserves, who face a fight to avoid the drop.

Callum Wooley hit a consolation for Bendix in reply to strikes by Tom Morgan (3), Mike Bristow and Mitch Morton.
