Frampton Cotterell RFC ready to renovate after winning national competition
Frampton Cotterell RFC are to benefit from a £5,000 renovation of their facilities after winning a national competition run by Six Nations sponsors RBS.
The club, which runs three senior teams and a 300-strong kids' section, from Under-6s to Under-17s, was one of three amateur clubs in the United Kingdom chosen for the award.
They have already recruited the 50 volunteers who will spend the weekend of June 13-14 carrying out a wide range of tasks, including redecorating the changing rooms, players' bar, toilet and shower facilities, entrance and lobby areas and storage facilities.
Frampton Cotterell had to submit a proposal, stating why they should win one of the three RBS RugbyLink weekend makeovers – and they saw off stiff competition to land one of the top prizes.
Frampton's Andy Pullen said: "We have got our 50 volunteers and they are all from within the Frampton community. Now we are sorting out the materials we will need for the event.
"Brandon Hire have offered us the use of some jet-washers and industrial sanders and we are hoping some local builders will also contribute some stuff."
Northavon MP Steve Webb has agreed to open the event on Saturday, June 13 – and Pullen is keen to involve the whole community.
"Crossbow House is a shared facility so this will certainly benefit the wider community, not just the rugby club," he said.
