According to the minority of your readers, horses, dogs and cats have no rights.

Firstly, the majority of horse owners are careful and police horses undergo very strict training on how to behave in public life.

Dog owners are often seen walking their animals.

However, hunters on horses with their hounds are a law unto themselves.

The law should be strongly enforced on these people who kill wildlife and domestic animals.

In the letter dated April 23, an ex-cat lover implies Bristol cat owners train their cats not to cover their faeces. I thought that only animals were dumb.

Cats should not wear a collar with a bell. It has been proven they are not solely responsible for the dwindling bird population.

My advice to Mr Ted Gardner is if you install a camera in your garden, you would be surprised at the nightlife.

Incidentally, foxes do not harm cats. They are useful in controlling the rat population.

“Miss Smith, yes foxes do harm cats. My mother used to work at the local vets, and had several brought in with injuries inflicted by foxes.
Foxes have also been known to attack children too”
