Forget Twenty20, Gidman tells Gloucestershire
Alex Gidman will challenge his Gloucestershire team to put their Twenty20 Cup disappointments firmly behind them when they return to County Championship duty against Derbyshire at Chesterfield today.
The Second Division leaders were flying before the Twenty20 started, winning two Championship fixtures and also reaching the quarter-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy.

But Gidman admitted there is a danger that a spell of five defeats in six 20-over games has interrupted that momentum and believes the players must rise to a new challenge.
"We have to refocus on our four-day cricket. I know the lads are looking forward to a return to that format," he said.
"It has to be a concern that losing so many Twenty20 games will affect us, but I don't believe we played that badly in the competition and we have to put it behind us.
"We were playing some really good cricket in the Championship and Friends Provident and have a lot to look forward to in both competitions."
Grant Hodnett could make his first Championship appearance of the season against Derbyshire. The Johannesburg-born batsman has been named in a squad of 13 and may replace Will Porterfield, who is away on Twenty20 World Cup duty with Ireland.
Other changes from Gloucestershire CCC's last Championship game – a 10-wicket win over Leicestershire at Bristol – see Craig Spearman, Richard Dawson and Gemaal Hussain all in contention. Ian Saxelby is ruled out by illness, but the squad still includes five seamers in Jon Lewis, Steve Kirby, Anthony Ireland, Tom Stayt and Hussain.
Derbyshire welcome back Stephen Stubbings and Dan Redfern, but new Kolpak signing Nantie Hayward will not be involved, as he is still awaiting international clearance.
