HISTON 5 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2

Dave Hockaday's pre-match 'back to basics' plea was clearly misconstrued by some of his players, who littered the match with elementary errors to hand victory to their hosts.

Rovers remain entrenched in the Blue Square Premier drop zone.

Hockaday had seen his side go ahead on eight minutes when Jared Hodgkiss, playing in a holding midfield role, saw a 25-yard shot charged down and fed the loose ball into the area for Jonathan Smith to poke into the bottom corner.

The leveller eventually came a minute before the interval, Nathaniel Knight- Percival ramming home from close range after his header from Gareth Gwillim's corner had been blocked. Lax marking at the far post then enabled Neil Andrews to nod Gwillim's delivery back into the middle, where Jamie Barker was on hand to finish with a powerful header.

The killer goal came on 71 minutes when Danny Wright shrugged off the challenge of Oli Thorne, drew Terry Burton out and squared for Simpson to tap in.

Histon's fourth came four minutes later when Wright swept home a cross from substitute Michael Frew.

Rovers scored a second when Gwillim was penalised for hauling down Rigg inside the area and David Brown coolly converted from the spot.

However, Histon had the last say in stoppage time when a dejected-looking Burton allowed Wright's low shot to creep into the corner.
