Flooding can't dampen spirits of school camp
STUDENTS at Redland High School were not going to miss out when their planned camping trip to Redwood, Gloucestershire, had to be called off because the site was flooded.
Staff came up with a plan for the Year 8 girls to "camp" in the school.
They slept in classrooms, cooked in the food technology room and turned their geography lab into a fine-dining area.
Despite the mixed weather, the 60- strong group went orienteering at Ashton Court and on their way back were dropped off at a local supermarket to pick up ingredients for a Ready Steady Cook style challenge.

Head of year Hazel Drew said: "It seemed such a shame when we realised that the weather had got the better of us and that we just weren't going to be able to go to our planned destination; the girls were very disappointed.
"So we decided that we would try and do something different that everyone would still enjoy. The school has all the facilities they need and so we simply set up camp in the building. Three new girls due to join us in September joined in the fun too, it was a great introduction to Redland High and a fantastic way for them to meet some new friends before they start at the school"
