Flight from Bristol Airport forced into emergency landing after problem found
A RYANAIR flight from Bristol Airport had to make an emergency landing after a pilot detected a problem, it has emerged.
The flight from Lulsgate to the Spanish city of Reus, carrying 171 passengers, was diverted to Barcelona on Saturday.
Details emerged as the Irish Aviation Authority and its Spanish counterpart said they were investigating a second incident the following day, when another Ryanair flight reported a technical fault which forced it to divert to Madrid.
Ireland's Department of Transport has assured the Spanish Ministry of Development that Ryanair's safety standards on its fleet of 300 Boeing 737 aircraft are on a par with the safest airlines in Europe. It also gave assurances of the IAA's rigorous oversight of Ryanair's operations and invited them to send a delegation to the IAA to be briefed in detail on the oversight of Ryanair's operations.
