Firefighters tackle blaze at farmhouse
YATE firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at a farmhouse near Alveston.
Two crews tackled the fire, which started in the chimney at Earthcott Green Farm, just after 1pm yesterday. Flames had spread to a first-floor bedroom of the three-storey farmhouse through the fireplace. A couple in their 70s left the building after discovering the fire and were not injured but there was smoke damage to several rooms.
