Firebrands have two matches left to retain their place in Slazenger EHA National Conference West.
A 6-2 home defeat against Old Georgians leaves Firebrands anchored at the foot of the table with an away game at Team Bath Buccs on Sunday their penultimate game.
Firebrands are a point behind Cardiff and two points behind Whitchurch, so a victory is essential. Dave Newnes scored both goals in the loss against Old Georgians.
Firebrands' Ladies, with their league place secure, stretched leaders University of Birmingham in National Conference West before conceding three goals in the last five minutes to go down 3-0.
Firebrands host Cannock on Saturday at Failand (2.30pm).
Carla Dunnett scored Clifton's solitary goal in a 3-1 reverse at Leicester in the Premier Division. Clifton entertain Chelmsford at Coombe Dingle on Saturday (1pm).
In West Women's Premier One, Clifton 2nds overcame Isca Dragons 6-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Kate Hurst and other goals from Vicky Roper, Steph Parsons and Tina Mash.
In Premier Two, Bristol University recorded two victories, defeating Chippenham 4-0 on Saturday and overwhelming Tavistock 7-0 on Sunday.
Lexi Brown (two), Stephanie Kinder and Charlotte Tuplin were the scorers on Saturday, while Liz Fitzwalter (three), Tania Hayes, Erin Ruxton, Lizzie Siese and Kym Shaen-Carter scored on Sunday.
Pucklechurch drew 2-2 with Chippenham 3rds through goals from Amy Davidge and Emily Pollock, while goals from Zoe Barnett and Shelley Beurschgens helped Thornbury to a 2-2 draw at Westberries 2nds.
In N4 Financial Solutions Wales and West Premier One, Westbury/Utd Banks lost 4-3 against Team Bath Buccs, with Joe Thomas (two) and Neil Richardson scoring the goals for Westbury/Utd.
Westbury 2nds overcame Cirencester 5-4 thanks to goals from Chris Cutts (two), Gareth Nichols, Rich Hill and Tony Watts.
Max Longden was the only scorer for Westbury/Utd Banks 3rds, who lost 3-1 against Team Bath Buccs D whilst Steve Millman (two) and Pete Farrell were on target for the club's 4ths in a 3-3 draw with Bristol/West C.
Westbury/Utd Banks Wizards went down 3-2 against North Somerset A, James Pope and Stuart Edworthy scored the goals. Tony Webster (two), Graeme Brown, Pete Thomas and Michael Harvey helped the Warriors defeat Old Bristolians C 5-0. In a friendly, Westbury/Utd Banks Widgets beat Devizes C 6-1 with goals from Chris Poulsom (three), Hugh Woodward (two) and Alex Yuill.
