Firebrands boost hopes of staying up with win over Bourneville

In Women's Premier I, Clifton 2nds lost 1-0 against Taunton Vale but need only to draw against Team Bath on Saturday to become champions.
In Brunel Division IV, Avonmouth Ladies celebrated promotion in style with a 4-1 win over Thornbury 3rds.
Debbie Chappell, Jo Harrison, Katrina Bacon and Claire Stevens scored for Avonmouth and Lily Exel netted for Thornbury.
In other divisions, Pucklechurch drew 3-3 with Devizes 2nds thanks to goals from Esther Clarke, Amy Davidge and Jackie Sutton, while Sarah Stewart scored a brace as Thornbury 2nds won 2-0 against Yate 3rds.
The finals in the Avon Junior League were dominated by teams from Team Bath Buccs, though Yate Sharks won the Under-11 group for the fourth year running and Firebrands won the Under-15 girls' title for the second time.
In N.4 Financial Solutions Premier I, Westbury/Utd Banks had goals from Andy Smeald and Pat Haynes in a 3-2 defeat to Cardiff University.
The 2nds beat Robinsons B 9-0 with goals from Terry Watts (2), Neil Moon (2), Nick Coates, Stuart Blake, Paul Mason, Gary Roper and Tom Colquhoun. The 3rds beat Firebrands B 6-3 with goals from Nathan Walkey (2), Steve Puetz, Tom Alger, James Pearce-Smith and Phil Cochran.
A Tony Webster goal helped the Warriors beat South Gloucestershire B 1-0, while the Wanderers drew 0-0 with Robinsons C.
Bristol UWE, a club formed by the merger of Bristol Hockey Club and the University of the West of England, seven years ago, secured the Premier League Division II title with a 4-0 victory over Team Bath Buccs B.
This secured a third league title for the club this year after the A and B teams won Bristol and NW Somerset Division I and II respectively.
The club host Guernsey in the HA Trophy semi-final at the university on Sunday (1.30pm).
