Filton College to host Armistice service for a second year
Filton College is once again holding an Armistice Day Remembrance Service this year.
It will take place at the college's Wise campus in Stoke Gifford on Wednesday, starting at 10.30am.
The college held a service last year to mark the 90th anniversity of the signing of the Armistice, to signal the end of World War I.
About 500 attended that occasion, marking the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and this year is expected to see even more guests.
Principal Kevin Hamblin said: "It's fantastic to see so many people wanting to pay their respects. It's particularly good to see so many students attending who understand the importance of honouring this important day."
South Gloucestershire Council chairman Shirley Holloway will lay a wreath during the service.
She said: "I am honoured to represent the people of South Gloucestershire at Filton College's Remembrance Day Service. It is so important that we should never forget those who gave their lives for our country."
