Film award turns focus on Bristol student
A graduate from the University of the West of England has won a prize at the Canary Wharf Film Festival in London.
Sophie Klevenow, who recently graduated from the MA Media animation course at UWE, won with her graduation project film entitled Noesis.
It was named the best out of 14 entries in the Mix: UK category.
Sophie's four-minute stop motion film about growing up and the loss of childhood naivety featured a wire and papier mache puppet.
Sophie said: "I spent time before doing the MA at UWE as a set design assistant at various theatres in Germany and my love of puppetry is rooted in this time.
"I like the idea of self-imposed restrictions that puppetry imposes, and the challenge of trying to make animated films without using computer animation."
Sophie is now working at UWE on a collaborative project to celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the homecoming of the ss Great Britain to Bristol.
