'Field hospital' to be set up for weekend drinking casualties
CASUALTIES of weekend drinking in Bristol city centre could be treated in a temporary "field hospital" to keep them away from overstretched A&E departments.
The Safer Bristol Partnership, which involves the city council, police, NHS and other public bodies, could set up a medical facility in an as yet undisclosed city centre venue on Friday and Saturday nights to treat people who have become the worse for wear through alcohol use, it was reported last night.

It would offer medical help and allow people who were drunk to sleep off the effects of alcohol, avoiding the possibility of them being arrested or being taken to hospital. A trial was held earlier this year.
