FOLLOWING on from Peter Davey's letter "Double decker trip proved to be a scream" (Open Lines, February 23), I too had an experience of driving a double-decker over the flyover at Redcliffe Way.

This was on the evening of June 22, 1994, with a Bristol VR owned by Bugler Coaches of Brislington.

I was loaded with 60 ladies who had travelled by boat from the city centre to Hanham and I drove the return journey to the Centre and Clifton.

Once loaded, they were all talking and it sounded like a bus full of budgerigars twittering away until I drove on to the flyover, when there was absolute silence until we descended safely on to Redcliffe Way. Full twittering only resumed after Redcliffe Bridge.

A memorable journey.

J C Brewer, Brislington, Bristol.
