I have become increasingly angry with numerous people in Bristol who have campaigned against the stadium expansions at the Memorial Stadium, the County Ground and the new Ashton Gate.

Bristol is unlikely to get the World Cup bid because there are other areas of the country that have stadiums ready. If the city does not get its act together and build the new ground, then we can say goodbye to any World Cup games.

People around the area of the County Ground who do not want to let the club expand are being selfish and letting down the rest of the city.

I, myself, have attended many of the ground's international matches and there is an amazing atmosphere. It is not the ECB's fault it is reducing the games at the County Ground, it is those particular residents who refuse to compromise on the expansion.

Finally, I find it embarrassing that Bristol has not got any matches for the upcoming Rugby World Cup, considering rugby is the region's main sport. The city needs to get its act together to become a major sporting venue. It is easily achievable if residents get their act together!

Tom Belger,

Downend.

“Actually, Bristol isn't going to get the world cup because Britain doesn't stand a chance -if you spent time looking at the politics of FIFA and world cups, you'd understand. To say that people trying to stop Tesco are anti-world cup is counting your chickens before the eggs are glint in the parent hen and cockerel's eyes.”
