Far better songs than the Pogues'
CHRISTMAS has been good apart from one fly in the ointment, the selection of the top Christmas song.
The bloomin' Pogues' Fairytale of New York was considered the No. 1 Christmas song of all time.
It left me both bemused and unconvinced.
I could do better than that. And there are at least three song candidates better than that one: White Christmas, Little Drummer Boy, Peace On Earth and When A Child Was Born. All had better scope for the proper meaning of Christmas.
