Fans' verdict to Southend v Bristol Rovers
I AM more disappointed after this defeat than the one at Norwich. At least on that day we could hold our hands up and say we were beaten by a better side. I just thought that here we only had ourselves to blame for losing the game as I didn't think Southend were anything special and we helped them by not really playing at all until we were two goals down.

I THINK our defence has been put under too much pressure in the last two games because we have been unable to keep possession and get higher up the pitch. I think the service to the front two was poor in the first half and we just kept giving the ball back to Southend and offered them too much time and space to attack us. We were better in the second half but there needs to be an improvement quickly or I can see us slipping down the table in the next few weeks.

TROLLS has to make changes for the next game now. He gave the players that lost at Norwich another chance to show that we had suffered a blip – but they haven't taken it. We have had a good start to the season but the last two games suggest to me that these players have probably been performing above themselves to get us into the top six. I'd like to see Blizzard and Williams in the starting line-up against Yeovil next week.

THERE has been no mention of new signings in the last few weeks but I still think we need to add one more midfielder to really kick on. I was never getting carried away with talk of promotion because of our good start. I think our season is going to be a story of winning a few and then losing a few. I think this team is a middle-of-the-road side that should comfortably finish in mid-table – anything else would be a bonus.

THE first half was pretty awful and I don't know whether that was to do with having no game for two weeks. We just never got going at all and made a pretty average Southend team look a lot better than they actually are. We improved after the break and were probably unlucky not to get a point at the end. Dickson missed a few really good chances – the sort I would expect a striker of his quality to put away on most days.
