Parents and neighbours turned out to celebrate the official opening of Lockleaze Primary School's Early Years Centre. The event marked the completion of an ambitious project to enable the school to offer daycare for children aged from just months old to five years and other support services for families and the community.

School pupils showed visitors around the new facilities and served refreshments following an assembly.

Head teacher Gareth Simon said: "This is a key milestone in the history of the Lockleaze community."
