Fabulous Bitton go marching on at top
BITTON Under-11s stayed on top of Division A – and maintained their fabulous record of not having conceded a league goal – with an 8-0 win against Brislington.
The victors led 2-0 at the break thanks to Luke Saward and Jak Griffiths before constant second-half pressure led to another six goals, from Harry Sutton (2), Jack Ball (2), Jordan Cribb and Saward.
Yate Rangers warmed up their supporters with an 8-1 victory over Coalpit Heath in Division B.
Lucas Haynes gaves Heath an early lead, but Yate hit back straight away when Dan Burton capitalised on a poor clearance to level and Nick Thomas took advantage of the referee's decision to play on after a Heath player went down to put them 2-1 up at half-time.
After allowing a two-goal lead slip in their previous game, Yate weren't going to let it happen again and captain Joe Wood opened the floodgates with a shot into the bottom corner.
A first-ever goal for the impressive Finlay Quirke and further strikes by Wood, Burton, Matty Isles and Liam Drew wrapped up the scoring.
Heath did not give up and were well contained by Kai Dawson, Ashley Drew and star man Dan Miller, while Harry Wren handled and kicked superbly throughout.
In the same division, Whitchurch produced another fine team display to defeat Fry Club 6-1.
Robbie Dixon started the scoring with a near- post header and Christopher French's edge-of-box effort flew into the top corner for the second.
Josh Pitts' double increased the scoreline to 4-0 at half-time and French and Dixon scored again after the break.
Bristol Rovers JSC made it five wins in a row as they maintained their unbeaten Division B record with an 8-3 victory over Bristol Olympic.
Olympic shocked the home side by taking a third-minute lead but Rovers' Dec Carvell hit back with two fine goals in quick succession.
Strike partner Cam Shorney also struck twice after fine link-up play between the two Rovers forwards and Elliot Morris added another to make it 5-2 at the interval.
Rovers dug their heels in hard after the break with star man Billy Mansfield and Elliot Morris working hard in midfield. Will Munro netted twice, one of them comimg after Zac Hearles' shot was parried by the Olympic keeper, and George Childs' fine effort into the corner of the net completed the scoring.
James Denyer's quickfire hat-trick propelled Oldland Abbotonians to a 7-2 success over Saltford in Division C.
Denyer got off the mark when he converted a through-ball from Will Tanner, scored his second with a shot from 18 yards and completed his triple from a Robert Bool corner.
Bool then found the head of Tom Corbidge from a precision corner to make it 4-0 before another Bool flag- kick was headed home by Charlie Millard for number five.
Cameron George beat two defenders to pull one back for Saltford after the break but, with Jack Haberfield, Mat Leat and Charlie Millard keeping it tight at the back, there was no way back and Haberfield's penalty and Will Tanner's fierce finish completed the Oldland scoring. George nettedSaltford's second goal with the final kick of the contest.
Broadwalk produced another fine performance to beat Whitchurch 5-3.
Man-of-the-match Jack Mundy and Liam Lock shared four goals between them and Kevin Pearce chipped in with the other one. Josh King's double and Jordan Sargent's strike ensured Whitchurch were always in the hunt.
Bristol Rovers JSC B returned to league action with an emphatic 9-0 win over fellow promotion hunters Downend Saints in Division D.
Goal machine Brandon Tyler broke the deadlock after 17 minutes with one of his trademark strikes and then added a penalty to put his side 2-0 up.
Although he missed a second penalty, Tyler did manage to complete his hat-trick while debutant Kyle Sweet was delighted to get on the scoresheet. Charlie Mulcahy (2), Mitchell Jeffries (2) and Kyron Wilson wrapped up the victory.
