Exploring the history of hip hop at Knowle West Media Centre
YOUNGSTERS from Bristol have been exploring the music, history and culture of hip hop in a week of events at Knowle West Media Centre.
The media arts organisation is hosting XLR 2012, a week of creative media workshops, music, performance and dance.
As well as workshops during the day, KWMC is hosting nights of live performances, all broadcast on www.sensei.fm.
Joss Holmes, one of the coordinators of XLR, said: "We ran the first successful XLR event in 2010 and we believe that this year's event has so much to offer for young people.
"They can learn essential music skills and receive industry information from professionals, build their self-belief through inspirational talks, gain confidence by supporting headline artists, and make decisions to shape the event throughout the week."
XLR is sponsored by Sensei FM, Ujima Radio, King of Paint, Dutty Girl, Unearthed Promos, Donuts, Beast Clothing, Depecht and Mild West Heroes. It is supported by Arts Council England and Bristol City Council.
