TODAY I was invited to visit Ashton Gate and look at the new plans for the stadium if it remains where it is.

The plans look good to me and have taken on board the factors which neighbours would be concerned about like height and shading.

Obviously the final details are still to be worked out and hopefully comments from the community consultation will add to the final application to the Planning Committee and will make sure that the stadium is one we can be proud of.

I feel excited at the prospect that our football club could have up-to-date facilities while remaining in the heart of the community, contributing to the vibrancy and prosperity of the area in a sustainable way.

If plan B becomes plan A, which I hope it will, many people in the neighbourhood will be delighted to forget about the disagreements of the recent past and rebuild a positive relationship with the football club.I look forward to attending a match in the modernised and beautiful stadium.

“It's very interesting to hear the views of Tess Green on the compromise plan B for Bristol City Football Club. As we know, plan B will allow the club to survive but, it will not allow the club to survive while also enhancing it's chances of prospering. PLan B will not pump hundreds of millions of pounds of investment into the south Bristol and regions economy. It will not provide hundreds of much needed extra houses, a hotel, restaurants, or light commercial units, which will be a spin off of plan A. Not to mention the extra permanent and temporary jobs created by plan A, as opposed to the piecemeal plan B redevelopment of Ashton Gate. Is Tess really looking after her constituents, or sticking to her personal political beliefs?

Tess Green states that she is looking forward to attending a match at the newly redevloped Ashton Gate. This begs the question: why does she have to wait for a new stadium development to attend and support the football club which is central to her community? The same football club that she campaigned against, when it applied to be a member of the Greater Bedminster Community Partnership.

These staements are probably more to do with the possible loss of revenue on match days, to local shops and pubs, such as George Fergusons Tobacco Factory, due to the new stadium being moved further from those establishments. And a lot to do with Tess's personal political views on greenbelt development.
