1938: Willie Hall scored three goals in three-and-a-half minutes for England against the Republic of Ireland, a record in a home international. Hall added two more in a 7-0 win.

2003: England beat France 24-7 in the semi-finals of the 2003 Rugby World Cup, with Jason Leonard making a world record 112th appearance for the winners.

2005: England lost their first Test match since regaining the Ashes, going down to Pakistan by 22 runs.

2005: Australia, Trinidad & Tobago, Switzerland, Spain and Czech Republic all qualified for the 2006 World Cup finals.
