England gets the worst of all worlds
I READ on the Prime Minister's "10 Downing Street" website, a piece of propaganda exhorting Scots to vote "No" to independence. Paragraph nine reads, "Scotland within the UK has a system of government that offers the best of both worlds. Why swap Scottish MPs, Scottish Cabinet Ministers and Scots throughout UK institutions, for one Scottish Ambassador in London?"
Paragraphs seven and eight effectively state that with its own parliament and government, Scotland can "look after Number One." Paragraph nine effectively says that as well as being able to look after number one, Scots can send MPs to Westminster to meddle in English affairs.
England, on the other hand, has no cake. We get the worst of all worlds. We finance Scottish devolution and the freebies Scots enjoy as a result, and have no say in our own future because that is determined by a British Government headed by a man who, despite sitting for an English constituency, has said "I'm a Cameron. There's a lot of Scottish blood in these veins".
