Emergency procedures have been put in place by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) to ensure requests for help from farming families facing financial hardship following the collapse of milk processor Farmright are processed without delay.

The Farmright Group, which includes Quadra Foods, employed 122 people at its head office on the Langage Science Park in Plymouth, where more than 80 workers have been made redundant.

RABI has since been in contact with the administrators, Grant Thornton, to ensure that all those affected are aware of the help available.

RABI chief executive Paul Burrows said: "Our emergency funding is to cover domestic expenses for farming families facing a financial crisis and within hours of the announcement we had been approached by several concerned dairy farmers."

Contact the RABI helpline on 01865 727888.
