An eleventh man has appeared in court charged with the abuse and neglect of vulnerable patients at the Winterbourne View Hospital near Bristol.

Support worker Neil Ferguson, aged 25 and of Emersons Green, is charged with two offences under the Mental Capacity Act.

He did not enter a plea when he appeared at Northavon Magistrates' Court.

Ten other people have been charged following a BBC Panorama piece on Winterbourne View.

The seven men and three women are accused of a total of 40 crimes against five victims at the private hospital on the outskirts of Bradley Stoke.

They will appear at Bristol Crown Court on 9 February.

Winterbourne View closed in June 2011. Castlebeck, the firm which ran the hospital, is conducting an internal investigation.
