“Malc P. You're right, the make of car is irrelevant as is the street name and time. After all, how many pairs of old folk were run over in Bristol on Oct. 8th?”

“What significance has the car make got to do with the report, police are requesting witnesses, I would need the make of car to jog my mind if I saw it ploughing through two people. It was no a case of hit and run.”

“Derek, very laudable comments. We shouldn't jump to conclusions. Let the police investigate. Just for your info though; you don't get traffic lights on a zebra crossing.”

    “Derek.
It's a zebra crossing therefore there are no green lights - or amber or red... just flashing beacons warning the road user.
Consequently the onus is on the road user, ie the driver to ensure that it is safe to for a vehicle to cross the zebra crossing, not the other way round.
That is why we have an offence called 'driving without due care and attention'.”

“Or the cyclists who ignore that fact that crossings even exist.

Or the pedestrians that just stroll out without for cars to stop.”

“"zebra crossing should be no longer be used, they are just so dangerous"

It's not the crossings that are dangerous, it's the car driver's who pass through them at speeds whilst there are pedestrians STILL on it that are dangerous....or the ones that don't stop at all... Cars, by their very nature are dangerous.”

“I have said for a long time that zebra crossing should be no longer be used, they are just so dangerous. I have known of many people being hit by cars whilst using the zebra crossing on the Gloucester Road by Sainsburys.”
