Sylvan Edwards is urging Dings Crusaders to give their all in tomorrow's final National Division Three South match of the season.

The Lockleaze club have an outside chance of finishing fifth – which would be their best-ever league placing – but need to collect a bonus point win at Rugby and hope Canterbury lose to London Scottish and Lydney in their last two matches.

Dings could also claim their best-ever away record in the division if they win on the road for the fifth time and beat the four victories they claimed in 2003-04.

Winger Edwards said: "These are exciting times. We have everything to play for. What a great way to end the season.

"I cannot see us losing on Saturday. I cannot see Canterbury beating London Scottish and Lydney is a hard place to go.

"Lydney are a proud side. We've played them twice this season and they were tough games."

Dings are without wing Sam Caven, fly-half Tom Lukjaniec, and flanker Mitch Quoi, while Pierre Panizzutti has been banned for a week after collecting three yellow cards for foul play this season.

Prop Barry Cole, 37, is expected to hang up his boots after the clash against Rugby.

The front row forward attempted to retire at the end of last season, but dusted off the cobwebs when Dings suffered a prop injury crisis at the start of the campaign.

Edwards added: "It is Barry's last game. He had a groin problem at the end of last season and he has managed to battle on for us this season.

"Barry's one of my muckers. I hope he scores a hat-trick in his final game!"

Edwards, meanwhile, lock Dave Bufton and captain Mike Panaho have been selected to attend Gloucestershire's first training session on Sunday.

The winger added: "I've been injured this season, I got married and I also went to Australia. So this has not been my season.

"But Bufton, Pamaho and I have been picked for the county. I will go up there and see what the crack is.

"Playing for the county is another step up, but it is quite enjoyable.

"We also play Devon at Kingsholm this season and, if we win the group, we get to play at Twickenham.

"I have decided the first time I go to Twickenham will be as a player.

"When I have been with Gloucestershire over the last few years we haven't been able to get out of the group stages."

Dings Crusaders (away v Rugby Lions): Stott, Wright-Hider, Dancer, Gervais, Edwards, Westall, Dipple, Cole, Wheeler, Brockett, Bufton, G Lloyd, Hack, Lee, Panaho (capt). Reps: J Lloyd, Quick, Trench, C Jenkins, AN Other.
