Edwards is a lone star as Bath City draw
Havant & Waterlooville 2 Bath City 2: Lone striker Darren Edwards played a key role in helping Bath City earn a draw in this Blue Square South clash.
City went into the match with Edwards playing as the only forward, Gethin Jones giving way to Lewis Hogg in a five-man midfield.
In the seventh minute, a Havant cross was flicked on by Steve Walker to former Woking player Manny Williams, who slotted the ball home.
At that point it might have been expected that the Hawks would pour forward in numbers, yet somehow City managed to stem the tide and began to pressurise.
The second half, for the first 20 minutes, followed the pattern of the first with City enjoying much of the possession, but the home side looking dangerous on the break through Williams.
That all changed on 77 minutes when Edwards put in a stinging cross for Mark Badman to glance home.
Two minutes later City were in front. Sub Mike Perrott went down in the box and Edwards easily converted the resulting penalty.
Havant, however, still had fight left in them. Twice they went near in the closing stages, through Wes Fogden and Shaun Wilkinson, and finally equalised through Williams with a minute to go.
