JOE Edwards is open to a January return to Yeovil Town as the end of his loan edges ever closer.

The Bristol City man has been at Huish Park since September, but will play the penultimate game of his spell at Walsall tomorrow.

Edwards, who has made 15 appearances and scored one goal, has impressed at right-back, right wing and in the heart of midfield.

He said he would have to discuss his future with his Championship parent club, but would be happy to head back down the A37 in the New Year if the opportunity arose.

"I have loved it," said Edwards. "There is a great bunch of lads here and a great manager who has been good to me. I have enjoyed my time here so we will see what happens over the Christmas period and look at it again in January.

"I would be happy to come back, but I am still at Bristol City so I have got to go back to them, speak to them properly and see what they say."

“He'll be recalled to play right back for City as more younger players are brought in unless McInnes is more effective in the loan marker than expected.”

“The way things are going at Ashton Gate, Joe, you are probably wisest to stay with Mr Johnson at the moment.”
