Educational initiative launch at aquarium
BRISTOL Aquarium will be welcoming more than 60 teachers over the weekend as part of the launch of its new educational initiative.
The Harbourside attraction is running a free familiarisation weekend of workshops, tours, talks and feeding demonstrations for local teachers.
Organisers are aiming to highlight the aquarium's ability to cater for a wide range of educational topics, all linked to the National Curriculum.
Bristol Aquarium's Tina Patel said: "The aquarium welcomes thousands of educational visits each year and we're constantly looking at ways to improve the experience and ensure it remains relevant to schools and colleges.

"The weekend event will provide us with an opportunity to meet informally with teachers and other educationalists to showcase what we have to offer them.
"As well as giving them a chance to sample first hand a selection of our workshops, tours, events and activities it will also let us find out from them what more we can do to ensure pupils get the very most from their visit."
The new initiatives have been designed to link in specifically to the national curriculum and also cover a much wider range of subjects.
Among titles of new education topics at students' fingertips are: Amazon, sea creatures, coral seas and paradise under threat.
There are subjects for all age groups from reception to year ten, as well as older students and more specialist requirements.
